This photo was taken in the Suntec City branch
I have been to the Bugis+ branch in early August and the Suntec City branch in late September. The atmosphere of the two branches are different. If you want to experience a slightly more traditional Japanese style and zen place, go to the Bugis+ branch. Besides, Bugis+ branch is larger as compared to the Suntec City branch.
So all of us went for the Unagi Hitsumabushi and ordered a grilled squid for sharing.
Unagi Hitsumabushi (regular)
Unagi Hitsumabushi (double)
Hokkaido Grilled Squid
In case you can't tell the difference in the Hitsumabushi double and regular sizes, the amount of unagi is different. Of course, the prices are also different! 😸
Anyway, the hitsumabushi were great! The unagi was soft and sweet (due to the sauce). There was also no strong fishy smell/taste. The ratio of rice to unagi was just right. The grilled squid, on the other hand, was disappointing. It tasted very dry, hard, and had a chao-da (burnt) bitter taste. 🙀🙀🙀
There will be a guide on how to consume this unagi hitsumabushi placed on each table. Just in case you want to act 一个 professional, you can follow this guide. Or not, you can just eat it however ways you want or are comfortable with. 😹
My take on Una Una is that the unagi is good (but I rarely eat unagi due to bad past experiences), price is affordable, and the food portion is just right... Oh! I will definitely visit the Bugis+ branch again!
